EXAMPLE LETTER FOR THE BALTIC STATES

[Note: This is a letter relating to countries like Norway, Sweden and Finland which are covered by the TRANS-CSP report but where the report does not envisage any CSP imports before 2050.]

LETTER FOR PUBLICATION

Dear Editor,

NO NEED FOR NUCLEAR

Regarding your report "Baltic disagreement on new nuclear power plant" (2007-01-27), there really is no need, in the Baltic states, for nuclear power and all its many headaches.

The 'TRANS-CSP' report commissioned by the German government, shows in detail how Norway, Sweden and other countries in the area can meet all their needs for electricity, make deep cuts in CO2 emissions, and phase out nuclear power at the same time. Copies of the TRANS-CSP report may be downloaded from www.trec-uk.org.uk/reports.htm . The many problems associated with nuclear power are summarised at www.mng.org.uk/green_house/no_nukes.htm .

Sincerely,

[Your name]
