DEFRA Consultation on the draft Climate Change Bill

The UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is inviting comments on the draft Climate Change Bill. The closing date for the submission of responses is 12 June 2007.

Members of the Môn a Gwynedd local group of Friends of the Earth have prepared a set of responses to the DEFRA questions, aiming to ensure that the Climate Change Bill is as strong as possible, leading to year-by-year cuts in UK emissions of CO2 in accordance with the best scientific advice. The DEFRA questions with our suggested responses may be downloaded from here:

Please feel free to edit these responses as you wish. With or without editing, please send responses in to DEFRA before the 12th of June deadline. Responses should be sent:

  • As email attachments to: [email protected]. Reponses should be clearly marked in the subject field “Consultation on draft Climate Change Bill”.
  • or by post to: Patrick Erwin / James Hardy, Climate Change Legislation Team, Area 4/F5, Ashdown House, 123 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DE. Put “Consultation on draft Climate Change Bill” on the envelope.
